Ajegunle-Apapa Decries Bad Road


Residents of Ajegunle-Apapa in Ojo axis of Lagos state have cried to the state government for help following the dilapidated state of the road.

This comes even as the road has become non-motorable for motorist, at a time when the rain seems to be here again.

It was found out that there are some areas in Lagos state, which are suffering inaccessible due to poor state of roads and the Ajegunle-Apapa road falls under this category.

Some of the people who live across Ajegunle-Apapa stated that they have waited and prayed for years on the state government to come to their rescue.

Their prayers seemed to have been answered last year when the some sets of individual began road and drainage reconstruction on the road.

According to a motorist, who simply identify himself as Baba Wale, "the road condition is unpleasant, especially in this rainy season of the year. We can't drive through this route when it's rained. What we do is to take another route, which takes longer time than expected".

"Although, there are several actions of reconstruction exercise early last year for road after years of neglect. And for the first time, there was a ray of hope for the road, but this looks short-lived." He said

Also, speaking with one of the Okada riders who simply identified himself as Ifeanyi, he said: “We were happy when they began works on this road but we can’t say that now. The road is affecting my Okada business and other businesses here. How long will it take for the road to be accessible again?”

A resident of Ajegunle, Mr. Bolaji Ogunbiyi, noted that the construction, which has been going on for over a year, has made the roads deplorable.

He said: “The road is so bad and not accessible. There are pot holes in the middle of the road. We urged the Lagos state government to help us rehabilitate the road before it sends us back to our villages.”
